Teto Chingri Recipe (Bitter guard and Prawn fry recipe)

Prawn is a very tasty small fish available in Bengal. You can make many recipes with prawn. Prawns are available in various size also. This recipe is prepared with the small sized prawns, you can even take the smallest ones. Here we tried a combo with bitter guard. Teto means bitter in taste. Let’s see how to make Teto Chingri. 

Teto Chingri Recipe Ingredients

10-12 Medium Sized Prawns

2 chopped Bittergourds 

1 potato chopped
1 Dry Red Chilli
1/2 tsp Nigella seeds (Kalojeere)
1/2 tsp Methi seeds (Optional)
1/2 tsp Ginger Paste
1/2 tsp Jeera Powder
1/2 tsp Dhania Powder
2-3 Green Chillis Slit
Oil to fry.

Teto Chingri preparation procedure

Marinate the Prawns with salt & turmeric powder.

Now in a pan add little oil & fry the prawns. Keep them aside.

Add little more oil in that pan & add the red chilli & nigella seeds.
When the red chili turns brown add the chopped bittergourds and potatoes.(You can also boil them for 7-8 minutes if you like it to taste less bitter).
Add little salt & turmeric powder. 
Fry them covered in low flame for 10 min. Stir in between.
Now remove the lid & fry in medium flame for few more minutes.
Add all the spices, the green chilies & also the fried prawns. Mix them well.
Now add little water. It will be a dry curry. 
It tastes great with steamed rice in lunch time.
