GAi:: How did you come to know about blogging?
I came to know about blogging in 2006 through by father. I started a blog on beauty but was not serious about it. I deleted that blog and then in 2007, I started my first website healthbeautytips.net which focuses on Natural Health & Beauty Care. I started Padhuskitchen.com after that in 2008 which focuses on Indian Vegetarian recipes.
GAi:: What is your first post and what was the feeling after that?
I think my first post was MysoreRasam and I did not feel anything at that time. Actually I only wanted to digitalize the recipes I try in my kitchen and whatever I have collected over the years, so that it will be useful for my children and others. Only after I started getting comments did I realize that there was a big community of food bloggers out there. Before that I do not even know that there are so many food blogs.
GAi:: Who is the motivating factor for you to start this blog?
The credit goes to both my kids who appreciate and enjoy my dishes. I was so happy to see my kids relish the food I prepare. I love to cook for them and it is one of my ways to show my affection for them. In order to make them happy, I started preparing a variety of dishes. At one stage I want to keep an online dairy of my recipes which will be useful not only to my children later in their life but also to others out there who want to learn cooking and try different dishes. Thus Padhuskitchen.com was born.
GAi:: Why you blog? Why should someone follow your blogs?
I want people to know that cooking is not tough and one can make healthy and simple dishes within a few minutes time. Keeping in mind the busy professionals and bachelors, I have provided many easy recipes without comprising on the taste or nutrition. Even traditional recipes are made simpler with the use of modern gadgets. Every recipe has easy to follow cooking instructions, thereby motivating anyone to cook. All the recipes in Padhuskitchen are tried and tested in my kitchen and are made with easily available ingredients.
GAi:: You mentioned you are a Recipe Developer. Can we have some of your creations?
Some of the recipes in Padhuskitchen are a result of my experiments in my kitchen. For example my Chillidosa and avalpulao are a big hit in my family.
GAi:: Tell us more about your other activities
I believe in living close to Nature. I have a small kitchen garden in my backyard where I grow few vegetables using natural fertilizers. I am very much interested in waste management. I compost my kitchen waste and use the manure for my garden. My other interests include yoga and crafts.
GAi:: How do you manage your family and blogging life together?
Blogging has not in any way affected my family life. I work only after my children leave and make it a point to spend time with them when they are back. The good thing is my family gets to eat a variety of food.
GAi:: Your clicks are very nice and clean. Which camera do you use?
Thank you for your compliment. Actually I was using a point and shoot Sony camera all these days. It is only recently I got a Nikon DSLR 3200. I am yet to use it to its full capacity. I am slowly learning about photography. I am just an amateur when it comes to photography and there is so much there for me to learn about photography.
GAi:: What is your target or dream?
My dream is to make Padhuskitchen a household name.
GAi:: Any tips or experience you want to share as a learning experience for new bloggers?
One needs passion and interest to be a successful blogger. Have your own style which is very important and stay focused. If there is quality, visitors will definitely enjoy coming to your site and will refer to their friends, family members and others. Apart from that persistence is a very important factor.
Thanks a lot for giving me an opportunity to share my views ……. Padhu Sankar.
