Dal palak is a very very simple recipe but is very good source of vitamin, minerals & protein as we combine both dal & healthy spinach. What do you need to make Dal Palak

1/2 cup toor dal or arhar dal (Soaked overnight)
Fresh spinach leaves
1 big tomato chopped
1 big onion finely chopped
1 tsp ginger garlic paste
1 green chili finely chopped
1 tbsp mustard oil
1/2 tsp jeera powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
Salt (to taste) 

How to make Dal Palak

  • Finely chop the spinach / palak leaves.
  • Wash them thoroughly so that they dont have any dust.
  • Now in a bowl add some water & salt. And boil the spinach leaves for 3-4 min.
  • Drain the water and keep the aside. You can also grind them in paste.
  • Now in a pressure cooker boil the soaked dal with little salt.
  • Now in a pan heat oil and add onions & green chili’s.
  • Add turmeric powder and fry till they turn brown.
  • Now add chopped tomatoes & cook in a medium flame for next 3-4 min.
  • After that add jeera powder & ginger garlic paste.
  • Finally add dal & boiled spinach to this mixture.
  • Before adding salt, check the taste and then add little, as we already added salt earlier.
  • Stir the mixture well.
  • Cook for next 2-3 min with covering the lid.
  • Dal palak is ready, Serve hot with roti or steamed rice.
