Preparing different snacks every week is really challenging, when your KIDs are in growing stages. I always think its better to have fast food prepared at home than outlets. Definitely I can control the ingredients of that food. Anyway I have tried to give a different taste to typical Aloo Tikki.

I have stuffed the aloo tikkis with a filling made by carrot. It increases the health benifit as

What do you need to make Aloo Tikki

2-3 big potatoes
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp sabji masala/any curry masala
1 tsp ginger garlic paste
1/2 cup maida (flour)
1 tsp red chilli powder(take half if you need it less spicy)
Chopped coriander
2-3 tsp mustard oil

For stuffing
2-3 carrot grated
1 onion finely chopped
1 tsp ginger grated
1 tsp garlic grated
1 green chilli finely chopped
1 tsp raw jeera(cumin)
salt to taste
Soyabean oil for shallow/deep frying

This tikki will be spicy outside and a little sweet inside. Potato and carrot both are sweet in nature. So we will add a little extra chili in potato mixture. Lets explore the steps…

First boil the potatoes and mash them with little salt.
Now in a pan heat mustard oil and add ginger garlic paste.
Fry for few seconds and add other spices as well.
In that masala mixture add the mashed potatoes.
Add chopped coriander leaves and mix them alltogether.
Keep it cool. Then mix maida as per requirement to make a perfect dough.

Next, to make the stuffing add oil in a pan.
First add the raw jeera and fry them for 1 min.
Then add onion and green chili.
Fry them till they turn brown.
Now add rest of the spices mentioned in stuffing area except grated carrot.
After that add salt & little sugar.
You can skip sugar as carrot is allready sweet.
Finally add gratted carrot and mix them alltogether.

Now, make small balls from the potato dough and stuff the carrot mixture in them.
With the help of your palm give them a tikki shape by presisng them gently.
Seal the potato ball from all side properly.
This way make all the tikkis.

Now heat enough soyabean oil in a heavy bottom pan to fry them.
You can shallow fry them, as generally we do for tikkis. But I have deep fried them.
Becarefull while doing them. Wait till their color changes to golden brown.

Tikkis are ready, serve hot with any chutney or sauce.
